Average mortgage interest rates for fixed rate mortgages continued to decline this week while interest rates on adjustable rate mortgages increased slightly according to the data collected by LendingTree’s Weekly Mortgage Rate Pulse.
Fixed Rate Mortgages as of December 19, 2011:
The average home loan rates offered for 30 year fixed rate mortgages decreased this week to 4.22 percent (4.52% APR). The average home loan rate offered last week was 4.27 percent.
The lowest mortgage rate offered for a 30 year fixed rate mortgage was 3.50 percent (3.62% APR), down from 3.75 percent last week.
The average home loan rates offered for 15 year fixed rate mortgages declined to 3.46 percent (3.92% APR), down slightly from an average of 3.47 percent posted the previous week.
The lowest mortgage rate offered for a 15 year fixed rate mortgage was 2.88 percent (3.11% APR), which remained unchanged from last week.
Adjustable Rate Mortgages as of December 19, 2011:
The average home loan rate offered for 5/1 adjustable rate mortgages increased slightly to 3.23 percent (3.51% APR) this week. The average home loan rate offered last week was 3.21 percent.
The lowest mortgage rate offered for a 5/1 adjustable rate mortgage was 2.50 percent (3.03% APR), which remained unchanged from the previous week.
